Overview

Crown Court Admin Officers are responsible for managing criminal digital files in preparation for hearings, handling correspondence and general enquiries from criminal justice agencies, solicitors, barristers and the public via post, email, telephone and face‑to‑face. They also manage serious criminal work and jurors, and carry out a variety of general administrative duties to progress cases through the court/tribunal system or support other functions within HMCTS.


Responsibilities

* Provide proactive and effective support to customers by phone and email.
* Organise time, prioritise efficiently, multi‑task and adapt to using various software packages.
* Assist in managing serious criminal work and jurors.
* Support the progression of cases through the court/tribunal system.


Requirements & Skills

* Friendly and approachable manner.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Customer service, administrative and IT experience, attention to detail, communication and organisational skills.
* Ability to work in a busy environment and help court users navigate the justice system.
* Legal right to live and work in the UK.


Working Hours & Patterns

Standard full‑time working hours are 37 hours per week. The role requires full‑time hours, but part‑time, flexible and job‑sharing patterns are considered in accordance with the MoJs Flexible Working policy where they meet the demands of the role and business needs.


Immigration

This role is not eligible for new Skilled Worker visas. Applicants must have held a Skilled Worker visa prior to the 22 July 2025 changes or obtain other right‑to‑work status.

Lead criterion: statement of suitability. A sift based on the statement of suitability may be held if many applications are received.

Additional Information

Hybrid working arrangements may be available; the role requires a minimum of 60% office time. All employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity.
