Fabrication Team Leader About the Client Our client is a respected engineering and automation solutions provider, delivering bespoke factory automation systems across multiple sectors. The role sits within their in-house fabrications division, which supplies precision metal components to support wider project delivery. They have invested significantly in fabrication technology and operate a well-equipped machine shop including CNCs, lathe, press brake, fibre laser, and welding bays. The Opportunity This is a fantastic hands-on leadership role for an experienced fabrication professional looking to step into (or grow within) a team leader role. You’ll supervise a small, skilled team, manage the daily flow of production, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, bespoke parts. Your own technical competency – particularly with brake press operation – is important, but more so is your ability to lead effectively, plan proactively, and maintain a safe, productive working environment. Key Responsibilities * Lead and coordinate day-to-day operations within the fabrications team. * Operate brake press machinery and take ownership of related output - Core skill * Supervise and delegate work across the team to maximise efficiency and output quality. * Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping, and workshop organisation. * Support equipment maintenance schedules (Total Productive Maintenance – TPM). * Interpret technical drawings and collaborate with design and production teams. * Manage stock and consumables ordering via internal purchasing systems. * Ensure all timesheet and job reporting is accurate and up to date. * Monitor staff performance, attendance, and holidays with care and consistency. * Promote team engagement, a positive working environment, and continuous improvement. Candidate Profile We’re looking for someone who’s practical, proactive, and brings a ‘lead by example’ mentality. The ideal candidate will: * Have a strong fabrication background – particularly brake press experience. * Be a confident team leader with the ability to manage different working styles. * Be highly organised with strong planning and time management skills. * Be comfortable using production management software and general IT systems. * Be familiar with Lean principles or 5S (desirable). * Be fluent in English (additional languages a plus). * Be reliable, mature, and solutions-focused – no egos, no drama.
