We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Electrician to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account at HMYOI Lincoln. This role is based on-site.
Note: There is a requirement to work 1 in 3 weekends on a rota basis, with an additional allowance of 15% of the basic salary.
At Amey, we support our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), by providing safe, clean, and efficient prisons.
Using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.
The Electrician plays a vital role in ensuring that planned and reactive maintenance within the prisons is carried out safely, compliantly, and promptly.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, across 7 days, with a weekend shift pattern in place.
You will be responsible for:
* Ensuring Health & Safety standards are met across the contract.
* Responding promptly to breakdowns, ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently.
* Performing planned and preventative electrical maintenance, diagnosing and replacing failed domestic electrical components.
* Actively fault finding and solving problems on domestic electrical systems.
* Testing and inspecting electrical installations in accordance with current IEE wiring regulations.
* Undertaking electrical installation activities according to provided designs and IET Wiring Regulations.
* Monitoring and ordering critical spares for all electrical services and overseeing the BMS System.
* Supporting zero carbon initiatives, contributing to sustainability goals, and handling additional tasks as directed by your line manager.
What makes this role unique: You will test and inspect electrical installations across prison facilities in accordance with the 18th Edition IEE wiring regulations. Prison Security Clearance is required, and Amey will support you through this process.
We want to hear from you if you have/are:
* An appropriate technical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds 2365 parts 1-3, BTEC, NVQ level 3 or above).
* BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, specifically the 18th Edition.
* Knowledge and experience of electrical systems and Electricity at Work Regulations.
* Experience in electrical maintenance activities, general distribution, installation, and testing.
* The ability to work independently and use initiative.
* Capability to work at heights.
Ideally, you will be qualified in the 18th Edition. If you currently hold only the 17th Edition, we will sponsor you to upgrade to the 18th Edition (terms and conditions apply). Experience in electrical maintenance within a commercial environment is also desirable.
Additional desirable skills include IT skills, and experience with fire alarm and CCTV systems, although training will be provided if needed.
