Responsibilities
1. Champion Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards across the business
2. Engage employees at all levels on HSQE matters, influencing behavioural change and embedding a proactive safety culture
3. Lead continuous improvement through the development and delivery of an annual Health & Safety improvement plan
4. Develop, implement, and maintain HSQE policies and procedures in line with the Integrated Management System and ISO, ISO, and ISO standards
5. Lead and deliver audits to ensure compliance with legislation, company policies, and recognised standards
6. Ensure effective risk assessments and safe systems of work are in place for all activities
7. Manage the reporting and investigation of accidents and near misses, implementing corrective actions as required
8. Conduct site inspections, audits, and toolbox talks
9. Liaise with external bodies including the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), local councils, and the Environment Agency
10. Support departmental managers with guidance, training, and implementation of HSQE-related changes
11. Maintain and manage third-party accreditations including Achilles, CIRAS, RISQS, ISO certifications, and the Common Assessment Standard
12. Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act, including subcontractor competence, governance, and risk management
13. Identify training needs and deliver health and safety training across the organisation
14. Promote the reporting of near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions
15. Maintain accurate HSQE records and provide evidence-based recommendations for continual improvement
Required Qualifications & Experience
16. NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent) - essential
17. Minimum 5 years? HSQE management experience, ideally within the construction sector
18. Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and industry standards
19. Proven experience of audits, inspections, and incident investigations
20. Experience managing third-party accreditations
21. Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills
22. Proficient in Microsoft Office
Desirable
23. Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or Quality Management
24. IOSH certification
25. Internal Auditor qualification (ISO / / )
