This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 4, 2025

The Role

Derby DHS is seeking to appoint an energetic and motivated individual to fill the role of Primary/Secondary Music Teacher and join their friendly team.

The successful applicant will ideally display their proven impact on student success through tailored curriculum delivery addressing students’ needs and student engagement. We are seeking a highly skilled teacher who builds excellent relationships with students and has the ability to recognise the current musical direction their students wish to pursue. Having a willingness to use local music from the Kimberley to develop their students’ music and performance skills is highly desirable. The successful applicant will ideally possess sound planning and lesson delivery and provide a positive learning environment where students are inspired and motivated to learn.

The successful applicant will ideally be a passionate, motivated, and skilled educator, who is committed to improving outcomes for every child, every day, through our whole school approaches, explicit teaching and instructional strategies.

It is essential that you are committed to developing positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the wider community. The successful applicant should possess a strong capacity to plan engaging programs using their knowledge of student needs and the West Australian Curriculum. An ability to continue the schools’ current musical programs such as Contemporary Primary Choir, Contemporary Primary band, and multiple original High School bands is highly desirable.

Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
