An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Dietitian to join the Hywel Dda Paediatric Diabetes Team in its mission to improve and empower children and young people living with diabetes. This permanent, part‑time position (18.75 hours/week) suits a highly motivated Dietitian with knowledge and experience of diabetes and/or paediatric dietetics.
Responsibilities
* Support the provision of structured education across health board sites and hold a clinical case load of children and young people with diabetes.
* Work as a specialist children’s diabetes dietitian and an integral member of the Children’s Diabetes Service, managing a complex caseload and supporting others to work effectively with children, young people and their families.
* Use specialist dietetic knowledge and skills: assess, plan, implement treatment, and deliver dietetic interventions in community, outpatient, hospital and group settings in line with the needs of patients, families and carers.
* Provide education, training and expert support to develop the knowledge and skills of colleagues working with children, young people and families in relation to effective dietary management of diabetes.
* Contribute to the work of dietetic and children’s diabetes services, actively participating in development, evaluation and improvement work, and in the implementation of policy, guidance and standards.
* Engage with wider service development, specialist projects and collaborative initiatives across the Health Board.
Qualifications
* Registered Health Care professional with relevant dietary qualifications.
* Knowledge and experience of diabetes and/or paediatric dietetics.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Desirable: Ability to communicate in Welsh (English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply).
Working Arrangements
Flexible in how the 18.75 hours are worked; discuss arrangements with the team. Additional hours or opportunities in other areas of dietetics can also be considered.
