Job Opportunity: Assistant Quantity Surveyor
O Neill & Brennan are proud to partner with a national, award-winning housebuilder to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for their flagship development in Plymouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking company delivering high-quality homes across the South West.
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will assume full commercial responsibility for aspects of new-build residential developments, ensuring cost control, maximizing value, and maintaining quality while helping to shape a key regional site.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Managing all costs for new build developments, from pre-construction to final accounts
* Preparing and presenting tender summaries and placing sub-contract orders
* Monitoring and reporting project costs and valuations
* Collaborating with internal departments and site teams
* Leading on CV1 and CV2 processes and monthly cost/value meetings
* Driving best practices and mentoring junior surveyors within the team
What We’re Looking For:
* HNC/HND (minimum) in Surveying or a relevant degree (a bonus)
* Previous experience as a PQS, SQS, or commercial lead in residential housebuilding
* Strong understanding of building regulations, construction methods, and legal obligations
* Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and attention to detail
* Ability to manage budgets and build strong subcontractor relationships
* Knowledge of systems like COINS and AGA is desirable but not essential
* Passion for mentoring and team development
