As a trusted UK Ministry of Defence partner, our client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join their Calibration & Maintenance Team. This varied and technically engaging role supports manufacturing across all stages of assembly, integration and test. You'll work within a driven, collaborative team, partnering with engineers and support functions to resolve routine and complex challenges. An HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide technical support to the Metrology Department at the Bolton site
2. Support calibration and maintenance of COTS (Commercial Off‑The‑Shelf) equipment and STTE (Special‑to‑Type Test Equipment)
3. Assist production teams with technical queries relating to fixtures and tooling
4. Support CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) inspection activities
5. Guide operators on best practices within the metrology function and respond to day‑to‑day technical queries
6. Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities in measurement methods and processes
7. Deliver technical support for mechanical calibration, including high‑ and low‑pressure and temperature calibrations
What do you need?:
8. Minimum qualification: HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
9. Proven experience calibrating torque tools in line with ISO 6789‑2:2017
10. Strong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
11. Demonstrable experience in dimensional calibration
12. Experience using and creating programs for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
13. Knowledge of temperature and pressure calibration is desirable
14. Ability to manage multiple tasks, issues and priorities simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment
