Grant Thornton’s Business Consulting practice spans Technology, Enterprise Applications, Finance, Operations, Deals and People. Our Technology Consulting team helps clients navigate strategic technology change, we advise Private Equity and corporate clients to help them make critical technology investment decisions. From pre‑deal technology due diligence to post‑deal value creation planning, we assess technology risks, opportunities and operating models to determine how “future‑fit” an organisation really is. We also support clients with major technology decisions, running Spec & Select engagements to help them choose the right platforms, partners and architecture for their growth.

What You’ll Do

As a Technology Consulting Assistant Manager, you’ll support high‑impact projects across multiple sectors, working with senior consultants and directors to shape client outcomes. You’ll bring structure, insight and commercial thinking to complex technology challenges, while continuing to develop as a specialist and consultant.

You’ll play a key role in delivering technology consulting engagements, working alongside senior colleagues to provide analysis, structure and insight across a range of client projects. Your work will span several of our core service areas:

Technology Strategy & Operating Model Support

1. Analyse technology estates and operating model elements to surface risks, constraints and improvement opportunities

2. Contribute to target‑state options, principles and portfolio‑level roadmaps

3. Support workshops, interviews and requirements sessions; capture insights and help shape next steps

4. Translate and present findings and insights clearly and confidently, helping the team shape recommendations and next steps

Business Systems Strategy & Digital Transformation

5. Support System strategy engagements; including requirements gathering, vendor evaluations, scoring and recommendation development

6. Contribute to market scans, shortlists and platform/partner evaluations (RFI/RFP, demos, references); prepare structured comparisons and reasoned recommendations

7. Help build pragmatic transformation plans and sequencing; support mobilisation activities (RAID inputs, planning artefacts, stakeholder documentation)

8. Work with SMEs to shape integration, data and reporting needs with a clear line of sight to business outcomes.

M&A Technology Advisory (PE & Corporate)

9. Contribute to technology due diligence, supporting assessments of risks, scalability, cost drivers and value‑creation opportunities

10. Support development of separation and integration plans, mapping dependencies and documenting practical Day‑1 and transition considerations

11. Produce clear, structured analysis and reporting in fast‑paced deal environments

Project Support & Collaboration

12. Work closely with senior consultants and Engagement Managers to plan work, manage tasks and maintain quality

13. Coordinate with wider project teams to maintain smooth delivery, clarity of communication and consistent quality

14. Build positive working relationships across the practice, collaborating with colleagues from different disciplines to bring integrated solutions to clients.

15. Contribute to proposals, research, credentials and methodologies that support practice development and growth.

16. Participate actively in practice initiatives, knowledge-sharing sessions and internal communities, helping to strengthen our collective capability.

17. Build relationships with client stakeholders and represent the firm professionally

Knowing you’re right for us

Joining us as a Technology Consulting Assistant Manager, the minimum criteria you’ll need is practical technology experience in a relevant environment. A degree in Computer Science, IT or a related discipline is strongly preferred.

It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.

18. Experience in technology consulting, IT operations or a similar professional setting

19. Ability to communicate technical concepts simply and effectively

20. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills

21. Excellent written and verbal communication

22. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

23. Exposure to IT strategy, digital transformation or M&A technology engagements

24. Understanding of systems architecture, cloud platforms or cybersecurity

25. Experience with data analysis or scripting (e.g., SQL, Python)
