Overview
To support the expansion of Fair Ways education provision we are looking for an unqualified Employability and Careers Teacher at our SEMH School located on the outskirts of Southampton, supporting around 25 young people. Students have complex and additional needs and are best supported with 1:1 or 2:1 learning and an individualised curriculum. Students are placed with Fair Ways when most other mainstream or specialist schools have been unable to meet their needs and may have been out of education for a long period of time.
Responsibilities
* Individualised lesson planning, delivery of lessons, marking of work and differentiating using appropriate approaches to teach effectively.
* Help young people draw up action plans for employment, education and training and support them to achieve these goals with high-quality planning and delivery of the programme while addressing individual needs.
* Participate in completion and monitoring of student assessments and be accountable for attainment, progress, and outcomes within your subject area.
* Support the implementation and delivery of each student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Personal Education Plan (PEP) by providing relevant data to monitor progress, set targets and plan lessons.
* Liaise with employers, colleges, universities, and training providers to provide the best opportunities for students.
* Demonstrate understanding of how young people’s early life experiences may contribute to challenging behaviour and learn how to respond appropriately.
* Intervene when necessary using positive handling strategies to keep incidents safe and work as part of a consistent team.
Requirements
* Role is offered at 37.5 weeks term time only. Full driving licence and access to a car are required.
* Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS) with the cost met by Fair Ways.
* Fair Ways cannot sponsor visas; applicants must provide evidence of right to work in the UK.
* Minimum qualification: A Level or equivalent in a relevant subject area or demonstrable experience in the specialism, ideally with experience in education.
* Understanding of education legislation and child protection policies and procedures.
