We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive senior technician to join our dynamic technical operations team, which strives to provide sector-leading technical support for FSE and the wider University. With a commitment to customer service excellence and a passion for science and engineering, senior technicians will provide an agile technical support service to staff and students to support teaching, research, and professional services. FSE’s research and teaching quality is recognized globally; this is an exciting opportunity to join us in Manchester and contribute to the provision of a sector-leading technical service.
Responsibilities:
1. Based in one of the faculty’s workshops, produce a wide range of precision components for staff and students using CAD/CAM programming techniques on CNC machine tools, including machining centres, turning centres, electro-discharge machining (EDM), and water jet cutting.
2. Demonstrate practical workshop sessions and support the faculty’s student workshops as required.
3. Supervise junior staff, such as workshop technicians, when working on specific projects.
