FLS Plant and Seed Supply is a dedicated team of 30 people responsible for growing or sourcing the 25 million trees per year required for the forests and land managed by FLS. We do this from the only publicly owned tree nursery in Scotland, Newton Nursery, near Elgin, which is currently being redeveloped with a 12,000sqm glasshouse. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Dispatch and Logistics Manager to oversee our plant nursery's logistics and dispatch operations. This role is crucial in ensuring that trees are supplied to forest regions on time and in optimal condition. The successful candidate will have a strong background in logistics, plant nurseries, or a related field, with the ability to coordinate complex operations and manage multiple stakeholders.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the flow of stock from our nursery and our suppliers to our customers. You will contribute to the development of the annual plant supply strategy, supporting the Head of Plant and Seed Supply and the Plant Supply Operations Manager in determining the optimal balance between on-site cultivation and purchasing from external suppliers each year. You will work closely with our Nursery Managers (Glasshouse and Field) and Team Leaders to prioritise tasks, ensuring that stock is available for dispatch according to schedule. Excellent communication is required to coordinate effectively with hauliers for transportation management and to interact with customers, providing excellent service.
To be successful in this role you will additionally be able to demonstrate your experience in administering contracts related to haulage, supply, and other logistics services.
