Build strong partnerships with data owners, stewards, and business leaders. Establish and nurture a BI community across the organisation, including training and development of analysts. Data Insight & Problem Solving Lead proactive problem‑solving using analytics, visualisation, and data exploration. Provide insight that supports evidence‑based decision‑making. Reporting & Analytics Oversee automated reporting across key areas including customers, colleagues, assets, health & safety and other internal departments. Maintain and refine existing dashboards to ensure they remain relevant and fit‑for‑purpose. Own and evolve a central semantic model, ensuring consistent KPI definitions while enabling controlled contribution from business teams. Data Engineering & Data Science Manage data engineering pipelines from source systems through to end‑users. Ensure data science initiatives are practical, production-ready, and aligned to measurable business outcomes. Oversee documentation for BI, data engineering, and data science processes. Governance & Standards Promote the adoption of industry data standards and frameworks. Configure Power BI Service, manage licences, and ensure best practice in Power BI Desktop. Support compliance with our Data Governance Framework, legislation, and policies. Identify and escalate emerging operational risks where needed. Leadership & Resource Management Allocate BI resources effectively in line with organisational priorities. Support continuous improvement and drive best‑practice approaches to analytics and automation. What you’ll bring: Strong expertise in strategic, operational, and tactical reporting. Deep knowledge of the Microsoft BI stack: SQL, Power BI, Azure / Microsoft Fabric, and modern data pipelines. Proficiency in T‑SQL, DAX, and Power Query. Understanding of ELT tools, data warehousing, Azure Data Engineering, and data science management. Awareness of star schemas vs wide tables, embedded analytics, automation, and continuous improvement.
