Job Description Summary: The Senior Proposal Manager will lead delivery of highly complex, large‑scale, international HVDC tenders (contracts >700MUSD). In addition, may manage small‑to‑medium tenders as support to the project team (variation orders on existing contracts) or to the business development team (pre‑qualification).
Key Responsibilities
* Review enquiry documents to establish a bid strategy in partnership with Capture Team Leaders to deliver the tender efficiently, maximize customer satisfaction, and increase probability of success.
* Lead the tendering team to deliver the bid in line with the agreed bid strategy, organize tendering activities, and coordinate with Engineering, sourcing, and project management teams to optimize the technical solution and commercial proposal.
* Build and manage tender schedule, lead tender reviews, and monitor and report on tender progress.
* Identify and report any issue or deviation from the bidding strategy in a clear, anticipated manner; propose mitigation actions and implement corrective actions.
* Establish the tender sourcing strategy in collaboration with the technical and sourcing teams, organize preparation of enquiry documentation, and liaise with internal suppliers to receive compliant offers.
* Build the cost estimate, validate all costs, and ensure adequate risk provisions for projects; establish a realistic target cost at an early tender stage.
* Lead preparation of tender documentation in line with bidding strategy.
* Ensure sufficient time for review and validation of documentation before submission to the customer.
* Prepare and lead customer meetings and negotiations, ensuring clarifications, answers, and presentations are reviewed ahead of customer requests and organizing appropriate teams to participate.
* Develop and maintain outstanding relationships with customers and regions.
* Ensure adherence to tendering procedures and tools; obtain all relevant tender approvals and gates in a timely manner.
* Provide leadership during the tender review process to address concerns and ensure on‑time delivery of tender outputs.
* Ensure all comments received during tender approvals are recorded and addressed before proposal submission.
* Propose and implement tendering process improvements to increase business financials, improve team efficiency, and enhance bid quality.
* Maintain technical knowledge of products and solutions to anticipate technical issues and promptly elaborate mitigation actions.
* Maintain knowledge of market trends, customer requirements, and competitor actions; provide recommendations to internal departments to better meet customer satisfaction.
* Support and develop young team members.
EHS Responsibilities

Educational Requirements & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or proven experience of equivalent level.
* At least 10years of experience in a large international renewable engineering projects environment, including proven experience in successful management of complex tenders or projects of medium to large scale, and sound understanding of commercial management and contract terms.
* Proven ability to lead contract negotiations with customers in an international environment.
* Proven ability to work in a complex matrix organization and communicate at senior management levels.
* Good understanding of FIDIC and NEC3 contract types.
* Demonstrated ability to work under very time‑constrained activities.
* Good knowledge of HVDC/FACTS applications.
* Good understanding of electrical power system engineering for utility customers.
* High degree of IT literacy (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, MS Project, etc.) with excellent numerical skills.
* Knowledge of financial tools such as SAP, ITOC, MTA, OSCAR.
* Willingness to travel outside of the UK as and when required.
Desirable Skills
* HVDC system design experience.
* Graduate program, XLP, or leadership program alumni.
* MBA or PMP certification.
