Job overview


We are recruiting for:

1. 1x secondment Band 7 post for 12months to cover for maternity leave

The post holder will be expected to play a key role in the operational and clinical leadership of treatment delivery and all relevant processes within the Radiotherapy Department

They would be expected to ensure the provision of a high quality and patient focused service and provide support to their colleagues, peers and students alike

To have expert working knowledge and skills in all relevant radiotherapy techniques and on-line imaging.

To ensure that yourself and other radiographers/professional are fully compliant with IR(ME)R regulations governing the use of ionizing radiation.

To maintain the appropriate competencies allowing an adequate understanding of principles and processes of treatment techniques, equipment, patient care, communication skills, technical ability, innovation and mutual dexterity.

To provide leadership in a team of different skill mix and to be involved in the total care of patients undergoing radiotherapy treatment.

To adhere to and promote our health board values, “Caring for each other, working together and always improving”.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for leading and managing a team of radiographers and co-ordinating the day to day clinical operations of a designated treatment unit.

Manage a case load of up to 40 patients a day, ensuring patients have accurate and consistent imaging and treatment.

Assist in the provision of all aspects of the radiotherapy service to ensure the highest quality of patient care.

Liaise with colleagues with a multidisciplinary approach to monitor and improve the service provided.

Support and train members of the team to maintain and develop professional and personal skills and standards.

Ensure that all IR(ME)R, Health and Safety, Manual Handling and Quality Assurance regulations are adhered to.

Contribute to the provision of a safe and welcoming environment for staff, and patients alike.

To be responsible for their practice and to adhere to the professional code of conduct at all times.

To exhibit a high standard of professional integrity and demeanour, maintaining strict patient confidentiality at all times thereby justifying public trust and confidence.
