We have a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant position available in our busy and thriving Ward 1 Trauma And Orthopaedics in Stoke Mandeville Hospital as part of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
Main duties of the job
1. Ensure the safety of patients at all times and report any hazards.
2. Adhere to the Trust policy for the safe keeping of patients’ personal possessions.
3. Undertake cleaning and correct storage of equipment at the direction of the Nurse in Charge.
4. Report faulty equipment in need of repair
5. Assist with unpacking and checking of stores as required
6. Report when ward stock is low.
7. Clean and tidy lockers and cupboards.
8. Clean beds and lockers after discharge of patient according to hospital policy
11. Assist in the general cleanliness and tidiness of ward area including kitchen, sluice and storerooms.
12. Following appropriate training and when deemed competent, use equipment within own department at the direction of nurse in charge.
13. Participate in an annual performance review.
14. Understand the importance of fire precautions and is aware of hospital policy regarding emergency procedures for example fire, cardiac arrest and major incident.

Experience
Essential criteria
11. Experience of working with people, ideally in a front-line customer service role.
Desirable criteria
12. Experience of providing person centred care.
Education, Qualifications & Training

13. Level 2 or Level 3 (NVQ) in health and Social Care or equivalent relevant experience
14. Willing to work towards Level 2 functional skills (Math & English)

20. A flexible and adaptable approach with the aptitude to work in a busy hospital healthcare setting.
21. Basic knowledge of health and safety with an awareness of the importance of following Trust policies and procedures.
PPE requirements: Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust requires all colleagues to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with our infection prevention and control procedures.
