An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Flood Risk & Drainage Consultant to join a highly respected and growing environmental consultancy delivering major development and infrastructure projects across the UK.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced consultant looking to join a forward-thinking business with sustainability at the heart of everything they do. You will work on a varied portfolio of projects across the property, renewable energy and aviation sectors, supporting developments from early strategy through to planning approval and delivery.
The Opportunity
Joining an established and collaborative water team, you will play a key role in preparing technical reports, developing drainage strategies and advising clients on flood risk and planning matters.
This role offers excellent exposure to a broad range of projects, genuine career progression and flexible hybrid working.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) and Drainage Strategies for a wide range of developments
* Identify and communicate flood risk and drainage constraints and opportunities on development sites
* Support projects through feasibility, outline design, planning submissions and discharge of conditions
* Design and develop SuDS strategies integrated within wider site masterplans
* Work across multiple planning and consenting regimes including Town & Country Planning and Development Consent Orders
* Liaise with clients, internal teams and external stakeholders throughout project delivery
* Produce clear, concise and technically robust planning and drainage reports
* Support wider water and environmental teams on multidisciplinary projects
About You
We are keen to speak with candidates who have consultancy experience within flood risk, drainage or water engineering.
You will ideally have:
* Minimum 2+ years’ experience producing Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies
* Good working knowledge of UK planning policy including NPPF and SuDS Manual
* Experience using InfoDrainage or similar drainage modelling software
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS
* Strong report writing and communication skills
* Commercial awareness and good project management skills
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Desirable but not essential:
* Tuflow
* Flood Modeller
* FEH
* River restoration experience
