Overview
Bedlington Academy is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative Teacher of Design Technology to join our dedicated and supportive team. Bedlington Academy is a caring, friendly and inclusive school that is focused on learning and developing high aspirations in our students. The Design Technology curriculum sits within our Design department, which also includes Art, Photography, Graphics and Food. Teachers in the Design department may teach across specialisms at KS3 and KS4; successful candidates must be prepared to teach beyond their own specialism and should indicate which specialisms they can offer.

Responsibilities
* Promote the agreed aims and objectives of the school.
* Effectively manage the learning process of students and apply a range of teaching and learning strategies.
* Plan and deliver lessons effectively and maintain appropriate records of teaching and student attainment and progress.
* Mark and assess the work of students in accordance with school and departmental policies and maintain appropriate records of attainment and progress.
* Set and mark homework in accordance with school policy.
* Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment in line with the school’s behaviour policy.
* Contribute to the appearance and ethos of the school through the maintenance of a pleasant learning environment within the classroom and departmental areas.
* Actively celebrate student achievement through the use of school systems to praise and reward.
* Be a Form Tutor for an assigned group of students and carry out related duties.
* Participate in general supervisory duties in accordance with published duty rotas.
* Participate in required meetings with colleagues and parents/carers; liaise with colleagues in other departments as appropriate.
* Engage in professional development and Performance Management reviews in line with school policy.
* Attend assemblies as required and promote safeguarding and welfare of students.
* Follow procedures for staff as set out in the Staff Handbook and school policy.
Qualifications and Skills
* A degree or equivalent in a relevant subject.
* Hold a QTS qualification (or equivalent).
* Experience of teaching within the subject area.
* Excellent IT skills.
* Proactive and self-motivated.
* Flexible approach to work.

Safeguarding
The Trust has a Child Safeguarding policy and procedure in place and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all its students. All staff will comply with policies and procedures, attend appropriate training, inform the Designated Person of any concerns, and record safeguarding incidents appropriately.
