Overview
Radiological Protection / Discharge Standards Engineer at EDF (UK) – Sizewell B Power Station. Sizewell B is the only PWR in the UK and is accredited to the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard. As an Engineer in our Radiological Protection team, you’ll be focused on Radioactive Substances Regulation initially, with opportunities to work flexibly with other team members to ensure compliance with the highest standards of environment and radiological protection.
Location: Sizewell B Power Station, Sizewell, Suffolk (on-site).
Responsibilities
* Oversight of arrangements for the assessment of radioactive discharges to the environment and the associated environmental monitoring programme
* Contributing to the arrangements for the accumulation, storage and disposal of solid radioactive waste
* Providing radiological protection advice in support of operations, maintenance and engineering
* Providing technical advice and oversight of the site arrangements for the assessment of radiation doses, management of radiological monitoring instrumentation, radioactive material control and for radioactive material movement and transport
* Supporting in development and delivery of training associated with radiological protection and radioactive substances regulations
Qualifications
* HNC qualification, or Level 4 equivalent
* Experience of applying Radioactive Substances Regulations would be preferable, as well as experience or appreciation of working in a highly regulated environment
* Excellent organisational, communication and people management skills; self-motivation and a proactive approach to dealing with technical issues; positive outlook with ability to drive improvements
* Security Vetting: meet the criteria (resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years)

Pay and benefits: Competitive salary from £45,641 - £95,993 with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Nuclear Generation Company Agreement. This is a full-time on-site role working 5 days per week. A comprehensive training programme will be available to the successful applicant.
