Trainee Assistant Buyer
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent - Office-based
Location: Glasgow
Our client, a well-established construction business, is looking to appoint a Junior Assistant Buyer to support its growing business. This position would suit an organised and commercially minded individual looking to build a long-term career within the construction industry. The successful candidate will work closely with senior members of the team, assisting with procurement activities and helping to ensure projects are supported effectively from pre-construction through to delivery.
Responsibilities
* Supporting the procurement of materials and suppliers for ongoing projects
* Obtaining and comparing supplier quotations
* Raising purchase orders and maintaining accurate records
* Liaising with suppliers and internal departments
* Assisting with delivery coordination and resolving supply issues
* Supporting the wider commercial team with day-to-day tasks
* Attending occasional meetings and site visits where required
* Requirements
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Good communication and IT skills
* Confident using Microsoft Office packages
* Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
* Commercial awareness and interest in the construction sector
* Full UK driving licence preferred
Previous experience within construction, purchasing, or an office-based commercial environment would be beneficial, but is not essential.
