Ravenswood Medical Practice has a vacancy for a part-time Receptionist. Working hours are 8.45 am to 7.00 pm Monday and Friday.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Receptionist to join our busy, friendly GP Practice. We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and flexible person to join our team of receptionists.
Main duties of the job
* Ensurean effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients andany other visitors to the Practice
* Usingyour own judgment and communication skills ensure that patients with noprior appointment but who need urgent consultation are dealt with.
* Receiveand make telephone calls as required, answering the call promptly in apolite and helpful manner, using agreed practice scripts as appropriate.
* Actionrepeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collectionby the patient within 72 hours
* Advisepatients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services)services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
* To liaise with hospitals in the booking of transport
* To undertake chaperone duties for patients whenrequested by clinical staff
* Ensurethat all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly andaccurately
* Undertakeany other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by thePartners or the Practice Manager.

* Dealwith all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-upappointments according to protocol.
* Usingyour own judgment and communication skills ensure that patients with noprior appointment but who need urgent consultation are dealt with in alogical and non-disruptive manner.
* ExplainPractice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and thoseseeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
* Receiveand make telephone calls as required, answering the call promptly in apolite and helpful manner, using agreed practice scripts as appropriate. Divert calls and take messages, ensuringaccuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
* Ensurepatient-related tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner, e.g.pathlinks admin
* Followprocedures for the recording and handling of home visits (house calls), ensuringcareful recording of all relevant details.
* Actionrepeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collectionby the patient within 72 hours, either on the computer or manually.
* Whendirected, prepare prescriptions for dosette boxes, liaise with pharmaciesas appropriate
* Preparelists and notes for all surgeries and clinics held, ensuring completion ofall associated paperwork.
* Advisepatients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services)services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
* Enterpatient information on to the computer as required, and obtain missingdata as required
* Ensurethat essential patient data is correct and up-to-date, e.g. contactdetails
* To liaise with hospitals in the booking of transportaccording to given timescales, completing appropriate documentation andfollowing agreed procedures. To action requests for ambulance bookings aremade accurately
* To undertake chaperone duties for patients whenrequested by clinical staff
* Retrieve and re-file records as required, ensuringstrict alphabetical order is adhered to
* Ensurethe reception desk and waiting areas are kept clean and tidy
oOpen up premises at the start of the day whenfirst to arrive and make all necessary preparations to receive patients,following required procedures
oTo check lights, video screen are on and amendthe touch screen information as required
oWhen last to leave at the end of the day,ensure that closing procedures are followed and communicate with any staff lefton site.
oTo receive, sign for and log deliveries to thepractice, following any policies for receipt of specific goods, e.g. informingclinical staff about the delivery of vaccines so that cold chain is maintained
* Ensurethat all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly andaccurately
* Undertakeany other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by thePartners or the Practice Manager.

Qualifications
* GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths
* Experience within a Medical Practice/Setting
