Duties
* Manage and supervise daily bookkeeping activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and ledger maintenance using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Quicken
* Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure timely payments and collections
* Conduct bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations to verify accuracy of financial data
* Prepare and review financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
* Maintain general ledger integrity through detailed account analysis and double-entry bookkeeping practices
* Lead month-end and year-end closing procedures while ensuring adherence to internal controls and audit requirements
* Support budgeting processes by providing accurate financial data and analysis for planning purposes
* Collaborate with external auditors during audits to facilitate smooth review processes
* Train and mentor team members on bookkeeping best practices and accounting software tools
Experience
* Proven experience managing bookkeeping
* Extensive knowledge of accounting principles such as GAAP, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and account reconciliation techniques
* Proficiency with popular accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, and other financial management tools
* Strong understanding of governmental accounting standards and tax regulations applicable to various sectors
* Demonstrated ability to perform bank reconciliations, general ledger accounting, journal entries, and financial report writing
* Experience with payroll processing and accounts payable/receivable management preferred
* Excellent attention to detail combined with strong analytical skills for account analysis and account reconciliation tasks
* Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
* AAT Level 3/4 qualified or equivalent
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
