Hours: 35 x 2

Hourly Rate: £20.32 - £22.05

Salary: £37100.57 - £40257.81 per annum

Contract Duration: 1 x Permanent and x 1 Temporary for 2 years.

*Please note: there are two positions in this post. One is Permanent and one is Temporary for two years.


Recruitment Profile

Scottish Borders Council is looking for motivated & forward thinking Empty Home Officers to work in our Housing Team. 1 permanent post and 1 temporary for 2 years.

The successful candidates will play a key role within the Council’s Housing Strategy, Policy and Development Service and will develop, plan and embed future initiatives required by the service in relation to empty homes.

The Officer will lead on the Council’s approach to tackle issues that relate to Empty Homes in the Scottish Borders and to provide expert professional advice.
Including to lead/contribute to the development and ongoing effective implementation of an Empty Homes Strategy to ensure that empty properties in the private sector are identified and brought back into use wherever possible.

The post holder will be expected to interpret a wide range of legislation, regulation and guidance to develop operational practices and procedures in relation to empty homes and to develop and implement incentives and proactive enforcement policies.

To encourage stewardship the Officer will also develop and deliver an Empty Homes information, advice and support service to empty home-owners and provide verbal and written advice, information and assistance to customers and key partners.

An important aspect is to work in partnership with other council services to ensure an overall strategic approach to address housing need and to develop and maintain strong networks and partnerships, in order to enhance service delivery through collaborative working.


Essential

An HNC/HND or equivalent in a Housing, Environmental Health or Building Related Discipline

A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post.
