The purpose and scope of the role of Midwifery Practice Leader is to lead, support and coordinate the day to day clinical operation of the Westminster Suite, working as part of the private care leadership team and playing a key role in the development of private maternity care services.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality, family centred private care through the provision of clinical expertise, professional direction and clinical leadership.
The post holder will be responsible for monitoring the maternity pathways within the private care service and will be responsible for identifying areas for improvement, managing a team of midwives and maternity support workers and promoting and growing private maternity care within the Westminster Suite, while working in collaboration with our NHS counterparts as part of the wider maternity unit.

Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the provision of a high quality, woman centred midwifery service for the Trust, in line with the national and Trust standards
To lead on the management of the day to day running of the Westminster Suite, ensuring that women and families receive care in a timely manner and of an exceptional quality.
To work in collaboration with Obstetric Consultants, The Lead Midwife for Maternity Inpatients and the Westminster Suite general management team, to ensure the Westminster suite delivers midwifery care that is safe, kind and meets the needs and expectations of women and families using our service.
To identify areas for improvement and to take a lead role in designing, implementing and supporting new and existing initiatives.
To promote private care and support the Westminster team to increase revenue and develop the service, while working in collaboration with leaders across the maternity service at St Thomas Hospital.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To be responsible for the provision of a high quality, woman centred midwifery service for the Trust, in line with national and Trust standards
To lead on the management of the day to day running of the Westminster Suite private maternity care services, ensuring that women and families receive compassionate care in a timely manner
To work with the multidisciplinary clinical and management team to continually monitor private maternity care pathways, while working across boundaries and supporting the maternity unit at St Thomas Hospital.
To identify areas for improvement and to take a lead role in designing, implementing and supporting new and existing initiatives.
To lead a team of Midwives and Maternity Support workers on the Westminster Suite.
