Anstey Wallpaper Company—part of the Sanderson Design Group—is looking for an exceptional Senior Digital Designer to join our Digital Design Studio on a 12‑month maternity cover contract.
This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a senior creative role within one of the UK’s most iconic design and manufacturing groups, contributing to best‑in‑class digital wallpaper and fabric design for prestigious global clients.
About the Role
As Senior Digital Designer, you will play a key role in the day‑to‑day running of our Digital Design Studio—supporting operational excellence, inspiring a talented team, and ensuring all digital output meets the highest technical and aesthetic standards. You’ll work collaboratively across our Design, Innovation, Technical and Production teams, and act as a trusted contact for customers.
This is a hands‑on creative role where you’ll balance design expertise, colour accuracy, technical precision, and customer engagement, helping us to deliver beautiful products with exceptional quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Studio Operations
* Oversee daily Digital Design Studio workflows, ensuring projects meet customer and production requirements.
* Deliver design and technical reviews to the highest standards.
* Manage and produce accurate printed samples for customers, internal teams, and product development.
* Maintain and evolve colour management and file structure processes.
* Coordinate multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.
Customer & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
* Build strong customer relationships through excellent communication and project management.
* Act as a main point of contact for allocated customer accounts.
* Work closely with Innovation, Technical, Production, and wider SDG teams on development and creative projects.
* Support collaborative wallpaper and fabric initiatives with Standfast & Barracks.
People Leadership
* Motivate, guide, and support Digital Design Studio team members.
* Assist with training, coaching, and developing junior designers.
* Help structure team workloads to maximise efficiency, quality, and service.
* Work with HR to support people and training needs within the team.
Measures of Success:
* Achievement of revenue, margin, and EBITDA targets.
* Growth in high-margin and strategic customer accounts.
* Increased customer satisfaction, engagement, and retention.
* Successful introduction of new markets, customers, or product segments.
* Effective collaboration across Design, Development, Production, and Finance.
* Data-driven decision-making that improves performance and forecasting accuracy.
About You
Experience & Skills
* Design degree or equivalent professional experience.
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in the wallpaper industry (essential).
* Advanced skills in AVA, Photoshop, and a strong command of colour separation and repeat design.
* Experience working at a senior level within a design team.
* Strong CAD capability across multiple software platforms.
* Proven ability to work directly with customers, managing accounts and delivering solutions.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Confident reviewing and solving technical and creative challenges.
