Due to continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Design Manager (Civils) to join our aviation team. As Design Manager (Civils) you will lead the design of a very large, strategically important, airfield civils projects whilst managing a small team of Design Management professionals.
You’ll be responsible for:
1. Lead the design management from project inception through construction, delivery and
2. handover of the project
3. Develop the project scope to satisfy the business need and support the business case.
4. Develop the design brief for external design consultants ensuring that the design is implemented and effectively managed through the design process.
5. Manage external design consultants ensuring that design outputs are reviewed, co-ordinated and meet quality requirements.
6. Monitor, coordinate and provide technical input to any design changes throughout the
7. construction and handover stages.
8. Support the effective commissioning and handover of the project through review of as-built
9. information, ensuring quality and completeness in what is delivered against contractual
10. requirements.
11. Ensure compliance with all legal and statutory obligations applicable to this role, including all
12. standards and code compliance and required planning permissions.
13. Support the development of the assigned Design Management team; set standards, manage,
14. motivate, coach and mentor staff within the team. Recognise talent and assist in the
15. development of those with high potential.
16. Liaise with the Construction Management team to co-ordinate effective and efficient delivery
17. of project activities.
You’ll need to have:
18. Educated to Degree level or equivalent in in Civil Engineering.
19. Chartered Member of a recognised Engineering Institution
20. Experience (ten years'+ experience) leading engineering design or
21. design management on large multi-year civils infrastructure projects with an individual
22. project value typically in excess of £150m.
