Truro and Penwith College are seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Civil Engineering Lecturer to join our team on a variable hour's basis. The successful candidate will primarily deliver the L3 Civil Engineering Apprenticeship programme and may also contribute to the T Level course in Design, Surveying, and Planning. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of aspiring civil engineers through innovative teaching and hands‑on learning experiences.
Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging lectures for the L3 Civil Engineering Apprenticeship, providing industry‑aligned, informative lessons.
* Provide specialised instruction in civil engineering, design, surveying, and planning, ensuring practical and theoretical learning.
* Develop curriculum, creating lesson plans that reflect industry trends and meet course requirements.
* Assess student progress through assignments, exams, and projects, offering constructive feedback and support.
* Maintain industry awareness and integrate advancements into teaching.
* Mentor and support students, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications
A Civil Engineering degree or related field is required. A teaching qualification is preferred or a willingness to obtain one. Candidates must have industry experience, strong math skills—particularly in civil engineering applications—and excellent communication and organisational skills. Ability to simplify complex concepts and a passion for teaching and mentoring are essential. Flexibility in teaching schedules and the ability to deliver lessons both in‑person and online are required.
Non‑qualified applicants will be considered but will be paid on a non‑qualified lecturer scale.
