Bidwells has an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Group Financial Accountant to play a critical role within the fast‑paced Finance Department. The role is responsible for providing strategic, management and operational financial support to the Firm and managing key risks appropriately. The key priorities of the Financial Accounting function are to manage all relevant financial, statutory, management, tax, cash‑flow and regulatory reporting for all Group activities.
The Group Financial Accountant will need to build strong relationships with their own team through line management, and also cross‑functionally with the wider Finance team, the People / Payroll team and other stakeholders.
This role will initially be offered as a 12‑month fixed‑term contract, with the possibility of a long‑term opportunity thereafter. It is ideally full‑time, but flexible or part‑time working options may be considered.
What you’ll be doing
* Work closely with the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis, acting as the key point of contact with external advisers, including auditors and tax advisers, and manage inspections from external bodies.
* Collaborate with the Management Accounts team to produce timely and accurate monthly management accounts.
* Manage all VAT, CT and other tax filings.
* Produce the annual statutory accounts.
* Provide timely and accurate information relating to the tax affairs of the partnership and of individual partners where applicable.
* Manage company secretarial matters and regulatory filings (ONS, ESG requirements, etc.).
* Provide reporting to the firm’s bankers.
* Prepare treasury reporting, including annual cash‑flow planning.
* Provide information for the firm’s Fleet Manager.
* Work alongside HR, Payroll and Accounts Payable to manage all outgoing treasury operations.
* Ensure consistent and accurate messaging to internal stakeholders through the monthly management reporting process, including bonus accruals and reconciliation.
* Field queries from colleagues regarding statutory financial reporting, taxation and regulatory questions.
* Assist with the annual budgeting process and produce analysis and forecasting for fee‑earning departments.
* Handle other ad‑hoc business/finance requests from the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis.
* Direct line management of 2 team members (Assistant Accountants).
About you
Essential qualifications
* Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
* Demonstrable experience line‑managing a small team of qualified/part‑qualified accountants.
* Experience managing the management accounting function.
* Experience managing external audits for SME.
* Experience managing all tax (direct and indirect) affairs for SME.
* Well‑developed capability in managing and reporting on highly confidential and personal data.
* Solid presentation skills coupled with significant experience in data management.
Desirable qualifications
* Experience working in an LLP, professional services firm or large corporate company.
* Knowledge of working in a property business.
* Experience in fleet management.
* Experience in NetSuite or similar system.
