The role
As a Commercial Specialist, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary. You will be a part of the Engineering and Systems Integration (E&SI) team within our Land sector, supporting commercial activities in delivering current contracts and organic growth.
Day to day, you will provide commercial support in delivering current contracts to ensure financial and commercial interests of Babcock are optimised, amongst supporting project delivery teams including Account Managers and Business Leads by taking lead in the research and recommendation of commercial solutions.
1. To secure work with acceptable terms by undertaking review and analysis of the commercial elements for tenders and opportunities
2. To prepare tasking forms and Contract Amendments (as may be applicable) together with negotiation of Prime Contracts
3. To provide commercial analysis, support and advice in respect of supply chain issues and negotiate acceptable terms in subcontracts
4. To act as the commercial point of contact to the Customer(s) together with the provision of commercial representation at Customer progress meetings
5. Prepare and negotiate new and pre-contractual documents including Confidentiality Agreements, Teaming Agreements and Consultancy Agreements
This is a full-time permanent role at 37 hours per week following a hybrid working arrangement of x3-4 days a week on-site with the remaining to to be completed from home and will be based at our Babcock Vehicle Engineering (BVE) Walsall site.
Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. Essential experience of the Commercial Specialist:
6. Strong Research Skills, e.g. reference sources, analyse data, info and to provide summary presentations
7. Successful negotiator of contracts and subcontracts
8. Experience of the whole commercial life cycle is desirable
9. Strong relationship building skills with suppliers and customers
10. Confident and proactive with the credibility to influence at appropriate levels
11. Awareness of governance and regulatory regimes
Qualifications for the Commercial Specialist:
12. Qualified to degree level or equivalent (e.g. WCC / IACCM) or equivalent experience in a commercial discipline
13. Hold a degree or equivalent in Law (e.g. LLB / LLM) is desirable
