About the role
Reporting to the RPM Manufacturing Manager, responsible for the building of all assemblies required to complete the build and test of an RPM System within the Operations team. We do need you to be on site every day (Mon to Fri).
A typical day for a Senior Manufacturing Technician could look like this
* Building and testing complex sub-assemblies, assembling tools to the required standard using build and test documentation
* Identifying and reporting manufacturing issues, working closely with engineering teams to resolve them
* Leading the manufacturing team in maintaining and improving processes and overall product quality
* Supporting the NPI Manager and RPM Manufacturing Manager in delivering products to customers on time
* Producing clear and well‑documented build notes and test procedures when required
* Generating Bills of Materials (BOMs)
* Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness across production and cleanroom areas
* Kitting assemblies in line with the BOM when required
* Leading the Operations team in maintaining a high standard of health and safety across the business
Who we are looking for
Along with a minimum of 5 years in a Senior Manufacturing Technician role, we do need you to have the following capabilities and experience:
* Building and testing complex high technology products
* Assembly of Optical components and use of Lasers
* Wiring/soldering to IPC standards
* Working with engineering development and release into a product (ie Product Life Cycle)
* Quality Control and/or Manufacturing engineering
* Adaptable with a can do approach to unexpected to challenges
* Good hand to eye co‑ordination
* Confidence with technical English
Nice to have
* Manufacturing within the Semiconductor field
* Building and testing optical systems including lasers and fibres, electronics, electro‑mechanics
* Working within a Cleanroom environment
* Building and testing any or all optical systems including lasers and fibres, electronics, electro‑mechanics would be an advantage
Education / Qualifications
Either an HND or Degree in Electro‑mechanical assembly or similar, or a clear equivalent path through relevant apprenticeship or accumulated experience.

Location and work pattern
All of our new UK team members are asked to work on site here at Abingdon during their first three months with us. We offer flexible, hybrid working where possible upon completion of probation.
