The Procurement Director is a senior leader responsible for overseeing the organization’s strategy and sourcing, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives. The role focuses on developing and implementing procurement strategies to optimize spend, build a resilient and compliant supply network, enhance supplier performance, and drive sustainability to deliver financial benefits and added value.
Responsibilities
* Provide Strategic Procurement Leadership through the development and execution of a comprehensive procurement strategy that aligns with business goals and delivers spend optimization and added value.
* Category and Supply Chain Strategy – lead strategic procurement and subsequent categories, ensuring alignment with business and operational needs and develop policies, processes, and systems that enhance procurement and category capabilities.
* Supplier Relationship and Risk Management – build and maintain strategic supplier partnerships to drive value, ensure compliance standards are met, assess supply‑chain risks and develop resilient strategies to safeguard business continuity at minimal cost.
* Cost Management and Financial Oversight – monitor procurement category spend, strategically source and negotiate contracts and optimize the supply‑chain delivery to achieve financial targets and efficiencies.
* Sustainability and Compliance – integrate sustainable procurement practices, including GHG emissions assessment and environmentally responsible sourcing, and ensure compliance with labor, safety, environmental, and trade regulations across procurement activities.
* Stakeholder Collaboration – collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, and cross‑functional teams to align procurement frameworks and priorities with business needs and facilitate communication across teams to implement changes and drive improvements effectively.
* Team Leadership and Development – lead, coach, and mentor direct reports to foster high performance and continuous improvement, conduct regular performance reviews and ensure team alignment with organizational values and objectives.
* Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement – establish and monitor KPIs to measure procurement category effectiveness and efficiency, establish protocols for corrective action and feedback, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure the highest data integrity standards to support procurement operations and decision‑making.
Qualifications
* Professional certification (e.g., CIPs, ISM, EIPM).
* Related bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in a related field preferred, and/or prior experience as a Procurement Director.
* Able to understand operational processes, customer requirements, and technical attributes of the product range.
* Commercially and financially astute; experience in multisite P&L management with the ability to forecast, manage budgets, and control costs.
* Strong business results orientation: ability to align procurement agenda with broader business parameters, excellent business intuition.
* Experience in leading and implementing change, structure, and process, and the ability to encourage continual cultural, technological, and operational transformation.
* Experience in M&A‑led growth and integration with knowledge of how business is conducted on a global scale.
* Inspiring leader who can attract and retain key talent for the division; experience leading, coaching, building teams, and mentoring highly skilled direct reports.
* Comfortable working both at a strategic and a tactical level, with a demonstrated ability to be hands‑on and remain close to sales and operations.
* ERP experience (IFS advantageous but not essential).
* Experience in a private equity environment is advantageous.
