GIS Consultant – WSP UK & Ireland
Your role as a GIS Consultant is a pivotal part of our UK digital strategy, driving location intelligence across diverse projects within the Transformation & Digital Insights service line. You will work under the guidance of an Associate/Associate Director, managing and analysing digital data, preparing GIS data, conducting analysis, and producing both web applications and hardcopy maps.
Responsibilities
* Undertake GIS mapping, analysis, data capture, data management and geoprocessing.
* Assist in developing efficient working practices to provide industry‑leading, best‑value services.
* Develop and maintain high‑quality procedures on datasets, procedures and figures.
* Liaise with internal and external clients.
* Provide GIS support to all areas of the business as required.
* Provide GIS technical mentoring to junior GIS staff.
* Contribute to the technical development of the GIS team through sharing ideas and innovations.
* Undertake continuous professional development.
* Occasional travel to other offices for business development and project meetings.
Qualifications
* Core principles of GIS and data management, especially for Enterprise Geodatabases.
* Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online and Field Apps, including integration and configuration of web applications such as Dashboards, Web Apps or Survey123.
* Understanding of relational databases and geodatabase design with the ability to deploy them.
* Knowledge of UK GIS datasets, both proprietary and open source.
* Some previous experience of GIS project management.
* Customer‑focussed approach to quality and service.
* Self‑motivated, initiative‑driven and proactive in developing new skills and keeping up to date with technology.
* Able to identify potential to add value by integrating GIS processes and procedures with other Digital Advisory teams such as Data Analysts, Data Scientists, AI Engineers and Change Managers.
