4Studio is at the heart of Channel 4’s digital transformation strategy and the future of our Business Operations department is intrinsically tied up with data, technology, innovation and implementation of agile processes, to support the delivery of 4Studio’s KPIs & targets.
We are looking for a stellar Content ID Assistant who can assist us in ensuring all our content published across social media is tracked, monetised, optimised, and reported correctly.
You’ll have superb organisational and communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail, able to track and understand a myriad of rights positions per show, channel and platform.
Utilisation of Content ID tools on YouTube and Facebook will be key, enabling you to police, track, block and monetise duplicate content uploaded by others, proactively identifying and communicating accounts infringing copyright on Channel 4 content on other platforms (TikTok, Instagram etc), and being reactive to counter-claims against our own published content.
Working closely with our teams across our Social Channels, Rights, Business Operations and Platform Partnerships, you’ll understand the whole process, from the uploading of long-form episodic content for ‘fingerprinting’ for social, all the way through to tracking monetisation of its performance – and you’ll understand and be able to swiftly articulate problems that may arise along the way.
We encourage anyone with a YouTube Rights, Video Operations, or Digital Content Management background to apply, as well as recent music/media/production tech/media graduates or junior paralegals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Digital rights and content management
1. You will assist with all Content ID queries and operations for the social channels we manage.
2. You’ll be reactive to claims and counter-claims we have to issue across multiple social platforms.
3. You will ensure the correct rights policies are applied to each programme, on multiple social channels, including the whitelisting of approved production company accounts that we partner with.
4. You will be responsible for the creation and set up of new social media accounts and channels, ensuring we secure the right handles and configure appropriately.
5. You will work closely with our Social Channels, Rights, Business Operations and Platform Partnerships teams to identify potential blockers or issues, and communicate back to all swiftly and efficiently.
6. You’ll help manage and streamline the workflow of content through Channel 4 for Content ID and Digital Rights Management purposes.
7. You will manage and configure platform Content Management Systems to ensure appropriate monetisation, geo-blocking, age gating and other controls are properly established.
8. You’ll be a pivotal part of helping us report on monetisation and performance of content, aligning with Analysts to identify successes and communicate learning.
9. You will keep up to date with social platform developments and help introduce improvements in our content management and delivery processes.
10. You’ll help build close relationships with Production Company partners to allow for swift and efficient blocking (and unblocking) of content on both sides.
11. You’ll oversee access and security/passwords on our accounts across all platforms.
12. You’ll ensure we have accurate record keeping and logging of all rights issues and account access.
Autonomy & Judgement
13. You will be based in Leeds, but connected closely to our other teams in London and our other Nations & Regions offices, and eager to help ensure learnings are shared across teams.
14. You will need to be able to use data to feedback insights into key stakeholders.
People's Skills
15. You will be required to manage the sometimes competing demands of key stakeholders. Cool under pressure and excellent powers of persuasion are required.
16. You will need to be able to explain both problems and solutions in layman’s terms. This will be important when “managing upwards”
Measurement & Reporting
17. You will be required to work with Social Analysts and Social Media Managers to produce regular updates that will be shared with senior management and the executive team.
18. You will work closely with Social Analysts and Social Media Managers to use data and historical performance to inform all new insights-driven strategies, and provide comprehensive wrap-up reporting on a show-by-show or channel basis.
19. Whether something has gone well or badly, you will be required to learn lessons from what has been done and be able to apply those lessons, so we keep on improving.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
20. Experience or an understanding of using Content ID tools (further training will be provided on the job).
21. Experience in a similar role ensuring content published across social media channels is tracked, monetised, optimised, and reported.
22. Proven working knowledge and experience of working within a social media and digital content creation environment.
23. Demonstrate excellent organisational skills and a real interest in digital content.
24. Demonstrate an interest and familiarity with digital law and rights issues.
25. Demonstrate great communication skills, and the ability to communicate across teams.
26. An understanding of Channel 4s brand values and remit.
27. Experience within a YouTube Rights, Video Operations, or Digital Content Management role, recent music/media/production tech/media graduates, or even a junior paralegal with an interest in digital content and social platforms would be encouraged to apply.
Hybrid Working:
From September 2023, C4 has operated a 60/40 working pattern, equating to three office days per week.
Having everyone in the office three days a week gives us more opportunity to build our high performing, inclusive culture; to collaborate and to learn and share with each other, as well as helping to coordinate a regular pattern of home and office working days.
Employees then have the flexibility to decide where they spend the rest of the working week.
All our offices are open five days a week.
