About the role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Supply Chain Manager to join our fast-paced and ambitious fresh fish manufacturing business. This is a pivotal, hands‑on role in which you will take full ownership of our end-to-end supply chain, from sourcing and procurement to planning, logistics, and delivery. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record of optimising supply chain processes and driving efficiency in the food manufacturing sector.
Key Responsibilities
* Procurement: Develop and manage relationships with a global network of suppliers to ensure a consistent and cost-effective supply of high-quality raw materials. Negotiate contracts and manage supplier performance.
* Import and Export: Oversee all import and export operations, including managing documentation, customs procedures, and compliance with all relevant food safety and trading regulations.
* Planning: Take charge of demand planning and forecasting to ensure optimal inventory levels across the business. Work closely with production teams to create a seamless operation.
* Logistics: Manage and coordinate all logistics and distribution activities, working with third‑party transport providers to ensure timely and temperature‑controlled deliveries to customers.
* Data and Systems: Analyse supply chain data to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement. You will be a super‑user of Excel, creating forecasting models and performance reports. Experience with supply chain software (SI preferred) is a distinct advantage.
* Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing supply chain team to meet departmental and company goals.
Essential Requirements
* A minimum of 2 years' experience in a senior supply chain or procurement role, preferably within the fresh food, short life or fish manufacturing industry.
* Demonstrable expertise in procurement, logistics, and inventory management.
* Exceptional proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
* Strong analytical, organisational, and problem‑solving skills.
* Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
* A proven track record of implementing process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
Desirable Requirements
* Experience with specialist supply chain software such as SI (Systems Integration).
* A degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
* Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment.
