Principal P&C Engineer
The main function of the role is to engineer the control and protection designs and SCADA RTSD designs for electrical substation projects up to a voltage of 400kV.
The Principal Protection and Control Engineer will report to the Head of P&C and must have a minimum of 12 years’ working experience in the Electrical Power T&D sector.
The Engineer shall provide technical leadership in substation design, specifically focusing on Protection and Control / SCADA related work packages. The Engineer should have a sound understanding of substation designs. This includes:
* Interpreting client specifications from tender documents
* Interpreting Protection & Control schematics to prepare stage-by-stage interface documents and drawings
* Specification and design of ancillary equipment (e.g., batteries, chargers, LVAC boards)
* Designing mechanical and electrical interlocking schemes
* Leading client technical meetings and progress reviews
The Principal Electrical Engineer will also assist the Proposals Manager in tenders.
Job Responsibilities
* Producing designs for substation Protection and Control systems, including:
* Single Line & Key Line Diagrams
* P&C Panel General Arrangement Diagrams
* AC/DC Circuit Diagrams
* SCADA I/O Schedule
* Wiring Diagrams
* Cable Sizing Calculations
* Cable Schedules & Cable Block Diagrams
* Design of mechanical & electrical interlocking schemes
* Provide technical support to the project delivery design team/project construction team
* Liaise with internal design team, client, and contractors as appropriate
* Attend technical meetings with clients and subcontractors
* Produce specifications for substation Protection and Control systems
* Calculate protection settings (mainly high impedance relay setting calculations)
* Review designs and make recommendations
* Assist the Proposals Managers in tenders
* Tender verification and cost estimation for protection & control design work
* Prepare, check, and approve engineering designs, calculations, and oversee drawing production
