PE Global is currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our industrial engineering client (NOV) based in Middleton, Manchester, UK. The role is a permanent position and the salary for this role is £47,500 per annum.
The role is hybrid with 3 days in office / 2 WFH. Hours: 7:30 - 16:00 Monday to Thursday 7:30 - 12:30 Friday
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and develop mechanical products and engineered systems from concept through to manufacture
* Produce and review 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings
* Carry out engineering analysis including FEA and hand calculations to support design modifications and improvements
* Simplify and optimise existing designs to reduce cost and improve manufacturability and production efficiency
* Work closely with Production, Projects, and Procurement teams to ensure designs meet operational and customer requirements
* Ensure all engineering outputs comply with relevant internal standards, policies, and regulatory requirements
* Participate in internal design reviews and assess commercial and technical implications of design decisions
* Maintain accurate engineering documentation and adhere to Engineering Change Control procedures
* Investigate and resolve technical engineering queries in a timely and effective manner
* Ensure designs comply with industry regulations including Machinery Safety Directive, PED, ATEX, and REACH standards
* Support customer-focused engineering solutions and uphold high quality standards across all deliverables
Requirements:
* HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification (essential)
* Proven experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer role within an engineering or manufacturing environment (non-graduate level)
* Proficiency in 3D CAD software for mechanical design and drafting
* Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and engineering calculations
* Experience with Design for Manufacture, Assembly, and Maintenance (DFMA)
* Knowledge of engineering materials and their applications in industrial design
* Familiarity with relevant industry regulations (Machinery Safety Directive, PED, ATEX, REACH)
* Competence in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
