Role Overview A Gas Engineer is responsible for the safe installation, servicing, maintenance, and repair of domestic gas appliances and heating systems in accordance with UK legislation and industry standards. The role requires strict compliance with the Gas Safe Register regulations, strong fault-finding capability, and a customer-focused approach. Key Responsibilities 1. Installation Work Install domestic boilers, combi boilers, system boilers, and associated pipework. Install and commission heating systems (radiators, controls, cylinders). Carry out gas pipework upgrades and alterations. Commission appliances in accordance with manufacturer instructions and Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998. 2. Servicing & Maintenance Perform annual boiler services and landlord gas safety checks. Complete CP12 certificates in line with legal requirements. Conduct safety inspections and combustion analysis. Diagnose and rectify system inefficiencies. 3. Repairs & Fault Finding Diagnose faults on boilers, heating systems, and gas appliances. Repair or replace defective components. Respond to emergency call-outs where required. 4. Compliance & Documentation Ensure all work complies with current Building Regulations and British Standards. Complete job sheets, risk assessments, and certification accurately. 5. Customer Service Communicate clearly with customers regarding work required. Provide technical explanations. Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times. Qualifications & Requirements Essential: Current registration with the Gas Safe Register. ACS qualifications (e.g., CCN1, CENWAT, CPA1, CKR1, HTR1 as applicable). Proven experience in domestic gas and heating work. Full UK driving licence. Desirable: Unvented hot water qualification (G3). LPG certification (if applicable). Experience with smart heating controls (e.g., Hive, Nest). Skills & Competencies Strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability. Sound knowledge of UK gas legislation and safety standards. Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively. Good interpersonal and customer service skills. High attention to detail and safety compliance. Working Conditions Field-based role requiring travel between domestic properties. Exposure to confined spaces, lofts, and varying weather conditions.
