You don’t need to have any previous firefighting experience - just the passion to protect and help your community. On-Call Firefighters have everyday lives and jobs until their alerter sounds and they become professional Firefighters, responding to a range of operational incidents when required. Being a Firefighter is not just about fighting fires. An important part of today's service is fire and road safety prevention, education and safeguarding. When an emergency does occur, our Firefighters are fully trained and equipped to deal with a range of emergencies. On-Call Firefighters make up approximately 90% of emergency cover in the UK, which makes them an invaluable part of our society. Below is a table of the levels of contract that the service offer. These are weekly contracted hours and will be discussed in more detail with the station management team at the initial interview. You Must What you’ll need to succeed: Be available to respond to or live or work no more than five minutes from your nearest station be at least 18-years-old at the start of employment, but you can apply before then. This position will be subject to a standard criminal record disclosure check.
