Overview Of The Role
Mott MacDonald is a global leader advising clients in the planning, design, and construction of coastal, offshore, and related infrastructure. This includes coastal erosion business cases, feasibility studies, structural defences, environmental enhancements, and construction supervision. Projects span the UK, the Caribbean, North America, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. You will influence project outcomes as a Principal Coastal Engineer, contributing to economic and feasibility assessments, coastal processes, metocean and hydrodynamic investigations, detailed design, and construction documentation. Sectors include UK and international coastal zone management, offshore renewables and cables, and tidal power.
Depending on your skills and interests, you may have project management responsibilities such as resourcing, programming, and handling commercial and contract matters, as well as risk and quality oversight. You’ll input to the contract procurement process, including preparing tender documents, specifications, BOQs, and construction drawings, and manage the tender process through to contract award. You’ll also support new business development initiatives and tender submissions to grow our PCO account.
Candidate specification
Essential
* A Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related technical equivalent
* Experience working in Coastal Engineering in a consultancy environment
* Strong written communication skills and the ability to write reports and deliver presentations
* Ability to deliver coastal engineering projects using innovative and digitally driven techniques
* Experience in business development, including client liaison and bid preparation
* Chartered with a relevant professional institution such as ICE/ IStructE/ CIWEM (or equivalent working experience)
* Demonstrated project leadership
Desirable
* Willingness to travel overseas for project assignments when required
* Project management skills with ability to network and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders
