Job Description
The Captor‑E Mk0 Radar is produced for the Eurofighter Typhoon and is currently in operation with multiple export customers. The project progresses through continuous systems and software design upgrades to enable the product to continue to meet the needs of end‑users who operate in challenging environments.
We are looking for Systems Engineers to work on Radar Mode development within the Mk0 Systems Engineering Team. The core element of the role is the development of algorithms for the Signal Processor, and the selected candidate will also be expected to take a broad involvement in all aspects of radar operation and processing, supporting analysis, design, integration, trials and verification activities within the Captor‑E Mk0 team.
Role Objectives
* Support and, where appropriate, lead the development of radar modes in the maturing Captor‑E Mk0 product to ensure these meet formal requirements and are fit for purpose in an operational environment.
* Take a full system approach to radar development and assist in all aspects of the radar development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
* Serve as the point of contact for specific radar mode(s), primarily air‑air but potentially air‑surface.
* Create a route map of development work for the relevant radar mode(s).
* Carry out all activities associated with radar mode design and verification/validation.
* Perform analysis on trials data (ground rig and flight trials) associated with radar modes.
* Develop solutions to problems and capability gaps.
* Present analysis results and proposed design updates to stakeholders.
* Contribute to planning of trials activity (ground rig and flight trials).
* Maintain models, analysis tools and supporting documentation.
Qualifications
* Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics or an equivalent background.
* Radar Systems Engineering experience preferred; strong knowledge of radar principles and signal‑processing techniques.
* Ability to focus on signal processing while understanding radar control, tracking and system interaction.
* Experience in building and maintaining complex system models and analysis tools.
* Proficiency in performing data analysis of large datasets with automated processing.
* Strong investigative and problem‑solving skills.
* Excellent presentation skills, able to communicate analysis results and design change proposals clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Security Clearance
This role is subject to pre‑employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Additional personnel security controls (National Security Vetting) may apply, including eligibility for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
