Grounds Maintenance Contract Manager
Location: Exeter | Salary: £27 – 31k + car, 10% pension, private medical
Meadfleet is a land-owning, quality open space management company with a growing and diverse portfolio of over 320 housing developments throughout England and Wales. We are seeking a Contract Manager to oversee the management and subcontracted maintenance of public open spaces across the South West – Somerset, Devon, and Cornwall.
Who we’re looking for:
* Hold a degree in Horticulture, Ecology, Conservation, or have experience in a similar role; or have 3 years’ experience at the operative/supervisory level of grounds maintenance.
* Ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and manage both short-term and long-term goals for developments.
* Desire to deliver high-quality grounds maintenance consistently.
* Effective communication skills.
* Excellent organizational skills.
* Good understanding and use of IT.
* Full, clean driving license.
* Ecological and Horticultural credentials or keen interest desirable.

The Role:
The Contract Manager will oversee management and subcontracted maintenance of public open spaces across developments in Somerset, Devon, and Cornwall. This role is suitable for experienced Grounds Maintenance Operatives or Supervisors seeking a managerial position, or seasoned Contract Managers with horticultural interests.
Key Tasks:
* Liaise daily with subcontractors, ensuring contract compliance.
* Conduct regular development inspections and report via our bespoke app, ensuring quality and safety standards.
* Build strong relationships with subcontractors, providing education and skill enhancement.
* Produce monthly reports for the Operations Manager.
* Inspect playground equipment and coordinate repairs.
* Respond to queries, delivering excellent customer service.
* Follow Meadfleet’s best practice guidelines.
* Identify opportunities for amenity and biodiversity improvements.
This position requires a satisfactory DBS check and driving license verification. If you have previously excelled as a Grounds Maintenance Supervisor, Landscape Contracts Manager, or in similar roles, we want to hear from you.
