Key Responsibilities:
1. Building Repairs and General Maintenance:
o Perform minor repairs on plumbing, electrical systems, or furniture (e.g., fixing leaking taps, light bulbs, or broken desks).
o Check and maintain heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
o Report major repairs and maintenance needs to the school administration.
1. Security and Safety:
o Lock and unlock school doors, gates, and windows as per the school’s schedule.
o Ensure fire exits and emergency doors are clear and accessible.
o Monitor and report any safety hazards (e.g., slippery floors or broken equipment) to ensure student and staff safety.
1. Litter Picking and Grounds Maintenance:
o Clean the school’s exterior grounds, including pathways, playgrounds, and car parks.
o Mow the lawn, trim hedges, and clear leaves and debris from outdoor areas.
1. Setting Up and Moving Furniture:
o Assist in setting up rooms for school events, assemblies, or meetings.
o Move furniture or equipment as needed for activities or events.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment, techniques, and chemicals.
* Ability to perform basic maintenance and repair tasks.
* Good organizational skills and time management.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to identify problems.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Physically capable of performing manual tasks (e.g., lifting, bending).
* Understanding of health and safety procedures.
* Previous experience in a caretaker or janitorial role is often preferred but not essential.
