**An opportunity exists for a Manufacturing Engineer within the OperationsSegment, reporting to the Engineering Manager.****The primary objective of this position is to:**Improve assembly and primary processes. Drive automation implementation. Use Lean principles of Flow, TAKT and Value Analysis to reduce costs. Support new product introductions and factory relay outs. Drive safety and sustainability improvements.**Key responsibilities and duties are to:**· Develop safety aspects of ASSA ABLOY manufacturing· Develop alternative production methods using Lean tools and techniques· Support and drive automation and robotics implementation· Design factory layouts, fixtures, tooling, materials handling equipment etc.· Establish plant and equipment investment requirements, quantifying the return and justifying expenditure· Value engineer products and processes to reduce costs· Design manufacturing processes for new products as part of the new product introduction process· Create drawings and concepts using a variety of software including CAD Solidworks, ME10 and Microsoft Windows· Problem solve, root cause analysis· Engage with the shop floor and wider team to solve any issues/problems· Communicate and work with other operational departments· Develop productivity improvements using Lean techniques (e.g. SMED, TPM, Standard Ops, Capability Studies· Introduce Quality improvements (e.g. gauging, traceability, measuring)· Product cost and runtime analysis**The ideal candidate will:**· Understand and able to read production drawings· Have experience in Lean Manufacturing· Have good IT skills and be familiar with ERP systems, including placing Purchase Orders· Have been an Engineering Apprentice with ONC/HNC/Level 3 NVQ in Man/Mech Engineering or Graduate with BSc/BEng in Man/Mech Eng· Have experience of project management· Have proven experience of improving productivity in a professional environment· Be able to demonstrate production cost analysis· Have an investment justification, payback· Have CAD experience**We are looking for candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds.****We are the ASSA ABLOY Group** Our people have made us the global leader in access solutions.
