This is a fantastic opportunity to join this professional & collaborative Public Sectormunications & Engagement team who aremitted to open, effective and impactfulmunication with both internal and external audiences.
Your new role
You will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality, engaging and targetedmunications that support the organisation's priorities. Working closely with themunications Lead, the widermunications team and colleagues across the organisation, you’ll help shape and deliver campaigns that inform, engage and protectmunities.This is a varied and fast‑paced role,bining strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. You’ll develop creative, insight‑drivenmunication activity across multiple channels, adopt a digital‑first approach, and contribute to both planned campaigns and responsivemunications. Key responsibilities include:
1. Developing and delivering targetedmunications campaigns aligned to defined objectives
2. Creatingpelling content in a range of formats for internal and external audiences
3. Providing strategicmunications advice, influencing and challenging leaders on best practice
4. Building strong working relationships across service areas to understand priorities, opportunities and risks
5. Managing media engagement, including proactive and reactive liaison with local, national and trade journalists
6. Ensuring allmunications are on‑brand, on‑message, audience‑focused and delivered in plain English
7. Monitoring, evaluating and reporting onmunications activity against KPIs
8. Supportingmunications activity during crisis or emergency situations
9. Keeping up to date withmunications best practice and new ideas across the profession

What you'll need to succeed
To thrive in thismunications Officer role, you’ll bring a strong foundation in professionalmunications along with the confidence to operate in aplex, high‑profile public service environment.You’ll need:
10. Proven experience working in amunications role
11. Demonstrable experience deliveringmunications activity across multiple channels
12. Strong media relations experience, both proactive and reactive
13. Excellent written and verbalmunication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences
14. Experience evaluatingmunications activity and presenting insights clearly to stakeholders
15. The ability to managepeting priorities in a fast‑moving environment
16. Confidence advising, influencing and persuading stakeholders at all levels
17. A high level of integrity, professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information
18. A degree, or equivalent relevant experience
19. Strong digital skills and knowledge of modernmunications tools and platforms
20. An understanding of equality, diversity and inclusivemunication

What you'll get in return
This role is offered on an initial 4-month temporary assignment, on a 3 day per week ( hours) basis.£ Per Hour + Holiday Allowance Flexible / hybrid working options are available
