Description of Duties
Cleaning Responsibilities
Ensure all areas are cleaned and maintained to the highest standard, including:
* Kitchens – cookers, microwaves, work surfaces, floors, walls, tiles, cupboards, fridges, freezers (when vacant), and waste bins.
* Living/Dining Areas – floors, furniture, high and low dusting, walls.
* Bathrooms – bath, shower, shower door, tiles, walls, floors, mirrors, pipework, and showerheads.
* Bedrooms – wash hand basins, surfaces, dusting, emptying waste bins, mirrors, and bed-making (as required).
* Stairwells/Lift Areas – vacuuming, surfaces, paintwork, high and low dusting, and doors.
* Complete deep cleaning of all areas at the end of occupancy periods as directed by the Housekeeping Supervisor.
* Undertake room preparation for bookings, including bed-making, literature distribution, and hospitality setup.
Health, Safety & Compliance
* Follow safe working practices, ensuring compliance with the use and storage of chemicals, materials, and equipment.
* Use only the equipment provided for the role.
* Carry out regular sanitising related to Legionella treatment and report completed works.
* Assist with water flushing as required.
* Ensure all tasks align with risk assessments and health and safety guidelines.
* Observe proper manual handling practices at all times.
Communications and Reporting
* Report maintenance or damage issues to the Accommodation Operations Assistant.
* Report cleanliness issues to the Cleaning Services Supervisor.
* Report any concerns regarding student welfare immediately to Accommodation Services.
* Ensure all lost property is processed according to University policies and procedures.
Customer Service & Professionalism
* Provide excellence in all areas of customer service.
* Handle customer enquiries effectively and efficiently.
* Attend and participate in relevant training and development to maintain operational and safety standards.
Essential and Desirable Criteria
* Knowledge of safe working practices and COSHH requirements (essential)
* Evidence of being self-motivated with a "can do" style and approach (essential)
* Knowledge of the University (desirable)
* Experience of working with students (desirable)
