Job Description
Baxterstorey is seeking a skilled and passionate Barista to join our team in Abingdon. As a Barista, you will be responsible for crafting exceptional coffee beverages and providing outstanding customer service in a fast-paced café environment. Must have access to own transport travel expenses paid. Driving licence required
* Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, including espresso-based beverages, using high-quality beans and proper techniques
* Overseeing coffee shop operation and supporting manager
* Operate and maintain espresso machines, coffee grinders, and other café equipment
* Create visually appealing latte art to enhance the customer experience
* Take customer orders accurately and efficiently using the POS system
* Handle cash and card transactions with precision
* Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
* Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, providing product information and recommendations
* Assist in managing inventory and stock levels of coffee beans, milk, and other supplies
* Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth café operations during peak hours
* Stay updated on coffee trends and Baxterstorey's menu offerings
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a Barista or in a similar customer-facing role
* Excellent knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and ability to operate espresso machines
* Proficiency in creating latte art and other decorative coffee presentations
* Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
* Competent in cash handling and using POS systems
* Food hygiene certificate (preferred)
* Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
* Knowledge of different coffee beans, roasts, and brewing methods
* Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as required
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Team-oriented with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
