Please be aware this is a Long Term Temporary post to start ASAP.
The role:
We are keen to recruit agency social workers with experience of statutory social work with children and families. Contracts can be offered in the initial period for up to 6 months, providing candidates with stability and security in the role.
We aim to be responsive to our agency workers’ needs. Our model from referral to permanence or closure allows us to cater caseloads to our agency workers’ interests. Typically, we offer caseloads involving Child Protection and Child in Need, but we can discuss allocating court cases or cared-for children if it aligns with our agency staff’s interests.
Our teams are based centrally in the Town Hall district of Stockport, co-located with health, police, Early Help, and MASSH colleagues. We currently have vacancies across the borough. The average caseload is 20; although it varies across teams, we are committed as an authority to maintaining manageable caseloads, which are reviewed regularly.
We provide a strong induction process, with a gradual increase in caseload and complexity. We offer high-quality reflective supervision monthly, with all team leaders trained in reflective and systemic supervision. Opportunities for group and reflective supervision are available, delivered by senior practitioners and our workforce development team. Additionally, there is access to specialist advice and consultation from our Aspire service regarding domestic abuse and complex safeguarding issues.
Each team includes 1 team leader, 2 senior practitioners, and 6 social workers. Teams focus on small geographical areas and maintain links with local schools, health professionals, and borough-wide services through our Team around the School model. Our team leaders and senior practitioners are well-established, familiar with Stockport, and maintain strong relationships with senior management.
Regarding working patterns, we value flexibility. Our social workers appreciate team time and the option to work from home. We utilize modern technology to support flexible working and are open to discussing requests for flexible or reduced hours to meet individual needs.
We welcome questions and conversations from prospective candidates and look forward to you joining our team!
