Space, Range and Merchandising Manager
To maximise sales, profitability and trade customer satisfaction across all branches by optimising product ranges and branch layouts, including precise locations, to ensure brand merchandising standards and 100% accurate transactions are maintained. Reporting to the Operations Director.
Key responsibilities
* Maintaining unrivalled range and credible branch stocks to be the first choice for trade professionals
* Ensuring reorder points and maximum stock levels are monitored and maintained in line with company merchandising principles striving to achieve 100% availability at all times.
* Ensuring Minimum Order Values (MOVs) and lead times are calculated to ensure credible stocks at all times
* Proactive monitoring of range and merchandising in competitors to shape proposals and stay ahead.
* Maintaining accurate space records and reporting on sales per square foot, including by shelf or slatwall per bay as appropriate by branch.
* Identify opportunities to increase capacity through improved layouts/merchandising solutions.
* To liaise with the Financial Director to ensure obsoleted stock is correctly accounted for
* Be point of contact for third party contractors or suppliers who are supporting or providing equipment for changes.
* To understand HSE guidance and legal requirements to effectively manage racking and storage requirements along with the specifications, sizes and turning radius of forklift vehicles by branch to ensure changes to racking are workable.
* Following approval from the Sales Director agreeing costs and timescales with third party printers to ensure receipt in branches at least 3 days before the start of a promotion.
* Maintain accurate and current brochure content to ensure ranges are up to date with scheduled print cycles.
Skills and Experience required
* Experience in space/range/merchandising management within a timber or builders merchant preferable.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales, margin and space data.
* Proficiency in space planning software.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines across a branch network.
* Empathy with trade professionals and a commercial awareness of the timber and building materials market.
* Strong merchandising skills and prepared to work alongside branch teams to deliver projects.
