My client are a leading structural steel fabricator, supplier, and installer serving London and the South East. With over 30 years of experience, they deliver high-quality steel solutions ranging from temporary works (props, walers, gantries) to complex structural steel frames for commercial and residential projects.
You will be based at their 2.5-acre facility in South east London, where they pride themselves on speed, efficiency, and delivering projects from initial design through to fabrication and installation.
The Role
They are looking for an experienced Tekla Draughtsman / Steel Detailer to join their in-house drawing office. You will play a key role in producing accurate 2D drawings and 3D models and fabrication drawings to support the delivery of structural steel and temporary works projects.
Key Responsibilities
Produce detailed 3D models using Tekla Structures for structural steel and temporary works projects
Generate GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and erection drawings
Create material lists, NC files, and schedules for fabrication
Interpret architectural and structural engineering drawings
Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams
Ensure all detailing complies with relevant BS/EN standards and client specifications
Manage drawing revisions and maintain document control
Support workshop and site teams with clear and accurate technical information
Requirements
Proven experience as a Tekla Draughtsman / Steel Detailer
Strong knowledge of structural steelwork and fabrication processes
Proficiency in Tekla Structures (but candidates with experience in Advance steel, struCAD, Xsteel, Gratec or Allplan or other steel detailing packages maybe considered as well
Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings
Understanding of steel connections, detailing, and erection principles
Familiarity with UK standards (BS/EN)
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Good communication and coordination skills
Desirable
Experience in temporary works steelwork (propping, walers, plunge columns, etc.)
Knowledge of AutoCAD or other design tools
HNC/HND in Structural/Mechanical Engineering or similar
