We have extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, including major projects such as the residential restoration of The Cocoa Works in York, the University of Sheffield AMRC’s aviation research and development facility and key schemes within Sheffield’s Heart of the City development.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Planner to lead the planning function for large-scale projects valued over £25m. This role involves strategic planning, tender planning excellence, advanced contract planning, programme management, and forensic analysis. You will mentor junior planners and represent the company at industry events, promoting best practices in planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Leadership: Lead planning on large-scale projects, develop innovative strategies, and mentor junior planners.
Advanced Contract Planning: Develop sophisticated contract programmes, establish integrated master schedules, and implement advanced planning techniques. Experience with Ministry of Justice (MOJ) projects is highly desirable.
Programme Management and Forensic Analysis: Lead the development of all programme types, conduct detailed forensic delay analysis, and develop recovery strategies.
Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Establish advanced progress monitoring systems, develop executive-level reporting dashboards, and lead complex programme workshops.
Strategic Planning and Innovation: Implement advanced planning technologies, contribute to corporate planning standards, and lead knowledge sharing initiatives.
Mentoring and Development: Mentor junior planning staff, establish structured training programmes, and support recruitment and development of planning talent.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential: Degree in a related field, advanced industry-specific training in planning methodologies, SMSTS certification, CSCS card, experience in planning large-scale construction projects, and advanced proficiency in planning software (ASTA, Primavera, MS Project).
Desirable: Master's degree in Project Management, professional certification in planning (e.g., PMI-SP), membership of relevant professional bodies (CIOB, APM, PMI), background in multiple construction sectors, and experience with MOJ projects.
Skills and Abilities:
Essential: Exceptional strategic planning abilities, advanced leadership and team management capabilities, superior communication skills, expert analytical and problem-solving skills, advanced financial acumen, ability to manage multiple high-value projects simultaneously, strategic thinking, and outstanding stakeholder management skills.
Desirable: Driving license for site visits and client meetings.
